Salford City College has been crowned Further Education College of the Year at the annual Educate North Awards, as well as taking the top spot in another category.
The college swept up at the ceremony, which is now in its third year, as they took home the sought after ‘Further Education College of the Year’ as well as the ‘External Relations Team of the Year’ award.
The judges are said be “thrilled by the non-selective intake and challenging circumstances (Salford City College) must undertake. They have kept true to themselves and true to their value,” which is what made them stand out from other nominees in this competitive category.
The Educate North and UK Leadership Awards, in association with The Telegraph Media Group, is a prestigious and high profile event, which celebrates and recognises excellence in the education sector. Over 200 people gathered to celebrate the sector’s achievements for 2017 at the esteemed ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel on Deansgate, Manchester.
Salford City College is the top Further Education College in Greater Manchester with five amazing centres. Between them they offer a broad range of courses at all levels. The College has a history of success and a commitment to providing young people with the very best opportunities, and they produce some of the best results in the country. 2016 proved to be another successful year with students yet again achieving a 99% A-Level pass rate. The College also saw a £9million investment into its estates and facilities with more to come for 2017.
These results, and a recent Ofsted grading of ‘good’, mean that students can be assured that by studying at Salford City College they will receive high quality teaching and learning. They’ll also be placed in the very best position to achieve their future aspirations – with this new honour from Educate North providing further reassurance of this.
CEO & Principal, John Spindler said, “We are delighted to accept not just one, but two awards which both reflect the huge effort and determination by our staff to make our College the best, particularly by providing a great service to our students and community.”
